what is a Diploma in Emergency and Primary Health Care 5403? can it gurantee you a nursing career? We Answered:
Well, if you want to be a nurse, then I would suggest a NURSING DEGREE.Mildred Said:
How will the knowledge of math factoring help me in a nursing career? We Answered:
The ONLY area in which it might help is w/ IV drip formulations... and this is only if you work in a place without a pharmacy; otherwise, the drip rate(s) are pre-calculated... you hang up the bag, input volume and flow rate into pump and let it run.I had to take statistics of all courses... and it was a four-hour course. How much do I need it now? None. I think that course is a prep-type of course in case one wants to pursue a master's degree in nursing (which, by the way, will do you NO good if you plan on working as a regular/floor nurse your entire career or if your desire is to go into management (and even in a managerial position you will have scant use of statistics, if at all)).
Regardless, math courses are required for a degree in nursing, so do your best to complete them with passing grades.

How is the nursing career like?We Answered:
If it was easy everyone would be a nurse. As in any career you must apply yourself in school. Most Nursing programs will not accept you unless you have a high GPA. All nursing schools require a C or above in pre-reqs. You don't have to be excellent. It is easier to succeed if you take tests well. You should also have common sense. There is nothing worse than calling a doctor in the middle of the night and not have all your facts and a set of vital signs!Alma Said:
Will getting a tattoo on my wrist affect my chances of a nursing career? We Answered:
Get a small one that you can hide under a watch, otherwise a wrist tattoo is not worth the dedication it takes to keep it concealed in the Professional world.Joyce Said:
How to start my Nursing career? We Answered:
First thing you need to do is pick a school where you want to do your RN program. Research several in your area, find out their specific admissions criteria, pre-requisite courses, required entry tests like ACT or TEAS, required GPA. You will want to meet with the academic advisors and ask them these important questions: How many students apply to your program vs. how many are accepted? What is the average GPA of admitted students? Do they have wait lists, and historically, how many students actually get admitted off those lists? If you take pre-requisites at another school, will they transfer? Most programs require you to get your CNA prior to starting the nursing courses, but not all do. It certainly may be helpful, but to tell you the truth they do teach you all that basic stuff in the beginning of your nursing program anyway. So it's up to you, if your school doesn't require CNA, then you might not want to do it.
My advice is to also take as many of the general ed courses (non pre-reqs and non-nursing courses, like English, humanities, etc.) as you can prior to starting the nursing core. Nursing courses are demanding and every credit hour feels like double the normal workload of any other course. Plus, some nursing programs give admissions preference to students who have completed many or all of those courses and who only have the nursing core left - that's another good question to ask the academic advisors when you meet with them.
It takes a lot of phone calls and making visits to campuses and checking out websites. You really can find most of what you need online in terms of application processes to the programs. Familiarize yourself with those so you have an idea of what else you need to ask when you meet with them.
Good luck!
