How to Become A Traveling Nurse? We Answered:
Once you become an RN, there are several companies that specialize in placing people in traveling nursing positions. My sister did that for about 3 years--it is well-paid, and lets you see different places, helps you decide if you would like to relocate to an area permanently.
She went to Lancaster (PA), New Orleans (LA), Charleston (SC) and 2 different places in Florida.
Once you get into a nursing program, you will get info, I am sure, from recruiters for this sort of thing. If I remember correctly, the companies prefer you to have some experience first, before taking you on and sending you somewhere.
If you are interested in the company my sister worked for, I can get it from her for you.

Career advice- traveling nurse?We Answered:
Hi, am currently on a nursing track and can offer up some advice. My situation is different that yours as I am a returning student and do not have a specific employer in mind. However I can tell you that will need lots of science. The highest level chemistry being an organic chemistry class. Its rough so do well in the lower levels that build up to it. Also you will need biology the highest level of this will be anatomy and physiology. Usually taught in two separate semesters after an intro course. If you want to do this economically. You should look at the schools you want to go ultimately find out there per-rec courses for the programs that interest you and get them at a community college.
Have you written to WHO and asked what schools they like to recruit from? This may be well worth your while. If not keep seeking out someone who works with them that can mentor you. Try calling a few schools that interest you and see if they have a connection with WHO. In the meantime get those basics under your belt.
I suggest setting yourself on a masters track, as there is a push in the world of nursing to have all masters level nurses. You don't by any means have to do this all at once, just keep it in mind when choosing your school and course track is my advice.
Best of luck to you! I hope you find a mentor on here. Its a cool thing to be able to ask questions to the general public like this.
:)
by the way the answer above from Samuel is SPAM... this same thing was posted on MY question to the community. VERY sad. Take the time and report both users will ya. If two of us do they get deleted. this is the title of my open question...

What would be a better career choice? Border Patrol agent or Registered Nurse.?We Answered:
Definitely finish your nursing degree if you are in the middle of it. Your options will be much greater after you have it.You are really looking at two totally different career paths. They both can be fulfilling, just in different ways. Make sure you really understand each job.
Border patrol is potentially very dangerous with minimal pay. They are very needed.
Nursing is good pay with lots of stress and long hours. They are also very needed.
If you are able to determine what you really want, with the two being so different, you should easily be able to decide what is best for you.
Did I mention... get that degree? ;-) It will be nice to have the safety net, no matter what you decide.
Good luck with your choice.

To add the the answers above all of which are correct the top schools are:In order:
Civilian Programs:
Virginia Commonwealth University Richmond, VA
Rush University Chicago, IL
University of Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, PA
Albany Medical College Albany, NY
Georgetown University Washington, DC
Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia/California State Univ.--Fullerton Pasadena, CA
University of Iowa Iowa City, IA
However, at the same level with Virginia Commonwealth University, since you wanted the 3 best these programs are tied in respect to quality and the expertise of the graduates with the best in the country, but are training programs for military nurses.
U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing Fort Sam Houston, TX
Navy Nurse Corps Bethesda, MD
Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Bethesda, MD
Actually, having been involved in nursing and nursing education, and working with nurse anesthesia programs for over 30 years; the best CRNAs I have personally worked with have come out of the US Army program.
