Travel Nurse Careers

Dave Said:

What are the best careers or degrees to hold as a military spouse?

We Answered:

I'm in the same boat. I have a bachelors in anthropology, but there is not much that I can do with it since we have to move every 2-3 years. I am working as an admin at the moment and there is a future at my company, with the option of telecommuting when we psc again. But I really would like to get a masters degree but have no clue what to major in.

Though I am not at all interested in it, you could always get your MBA. They are pretty versatile and so long as you are stationed near a big city there are almost always corporate jobs.

Marsha Said:

What are some degree programs/careers that will let you travel the world?

We Answered:

Airline flight crews, military, photo or print journalist, nature photographer. The people that do the most travel in the company I work for these days are supplier management people - particularly auditors. With globalization, a lot of supplied parts, materials and subassemblies come from far flung places around the world. One of the most in demand fields anywhere would be healthcare - it's the one area where you would be most likely to be able to land a job in a foreign country if you're interested in that. In that case, your job may not directly require travel, but you may be in a position to go out exploring on your own on weekends and holidays. I've been living in Italy for the last 11 years and have had the chance to visit most of Europe during that time.

You need to be aware that traveling for a job is not the same as travel on a vacation; it can be a great opportunity and rewarding. It can also be a lot of wear and tear - you really have to have the right personality to be on the road a lot and you don't necessarily get a chance to spend any time sightseeing. You could also consider foreign service (i.e., diplomatic corps).

Other possibilities might include oceanography, anthropology or archaeology but they don't necessarily get you in the field.

The job market isn't all that strong in many places right now. Healthcare might be the most in-demand field.

Associates in Travel & Hospitality but now i want to change careers what its the next step?

We Answered:

It depends on what you enjoy. I know travel agents in good areas that make 1m plus a year. The average doesnt make near that.

Evelyn Said:

I wanna travel when i graduate, what would ba a good plan or is military the only option?

We Answered:

I'm not a recruiter, so it is not my job to talk you into joining the military. If you want to join, then join. If you don't, then don't. The choice is yours. I will say this...I have traveled all over the world and see allot of things I wouldn't have seen if I hadn't joined the military, but that's just me.
