Travel Nurse Employment

Patricia Said:

Can my company clean out my bank account and even send it into a negative balance?

We Answered:

Yes, they can take money out of your account.

Since you don't trust them go to the bank and make sure that you cancel any "check protection" (the banker's name for high-interest unsecured loans) on that account and that the bank will not honor any "automatic" withdrawals that make the account go negative.

If they won't cooperate close all of your other accounts and move your money to another bank. You should then clean out the account to which your employer can make deposits and withdrawals.

Good luck

Nellie Said:

If I become a Registered Nurse (RN), do you think I'll always make good money and always have job security?

We Answered:

To get an associate degree in nursing, and complete the RN licensure is normally a 2.5 to 3 year time frame, and whether you can complete it faster will not depend so much on how many degrees you have, but what courses you have which will meet the prerequisites. After that you will still have the 2 year nursing core curriculum, though there are a few that have 16 month expidited ADN programs.

Whether you will always have a job is not guaranteed, though it is likely. The population is aging, and the bulk of the current RNs are aging as well, so there is a significant potential shortage. How much you will make is dependent on health care financing, and whether we end up with a national health care system. It is likely that if a national government controlled health care system was put into effect nursing salaries would not continue to rise as they have.

Regarding traveling RNs. They hire ADNs as well as BSNs, though given a choice of equally qualified candidates with the 2 degrees usually the BSN would get the job.

Currently the national average salary for traveling RNs is $71,000 per year, not over $100,000. Some may make over $100,000, but they are not the norm.

Most traveling RNs are requested with experience in a specialty area. The most commonly requested specialties are OR, ICU, L&D, and other specialties are less common. They usually are not looking for someone with mionimal experience, as they could just put a new grad in the slot if they were looking for a minimally trained body. It takes 6 months to a year to train a nurse to work in the OR, then they need to get experience. A traveling RN needs to be able to walk in to an OR and start working cases with a minmal orientation to the location of supplies and the hospital's forms. The same is true of L&D especially if the L&D does it's own C-Sections. Most hospitals like for ICU nurses to have some experience on a general nursing unit prior to moving into the ICU, so it often takes over a year to be experienced in the intensive care units.

The average salary for an RN in the US is $64,000 per year. It is a secure field, and the salary is one of the better entry level jobs available.

Very few nurses make over $100,000 per year if they are not nurse anesthetist or nurse practitioners.

Employment help needed urgently?

We Answered:

I don't recommend or trust any of the on line work from home jobs.

Ricky Said:

my best freind is travelling to manila to his wife could you help him?

We Answered:

Sad to say that if the American finds a job in the Philippines, most likely, it won't pay as much as in the US. I think executive compensation (director level and up) in larger, multi-national companies starts around P100,000/month. That seems like a lot to us, but may not motivate the MBA grad from the US.

One long shot would be for him to apply at companies in the US with operations in the Philippines. Then if there are openings in the Philippines for someone with his qualifications, he may have a chance of being transferred as an expat with a good compensation package.

Do US immigration need consent of both parents of a minor to travel even when they are with their mother only?

We Answered:

I believe so yes. I am a US citizen living in New Zealand and had to obtain a signed notarized document from my spouse to enable my daughter to travel with me. For more information go to www.travel.state.gov

People in Morocco - What type of health centre would best benefit Morocco that is not available at present?

We Answered:

Hello, I have just seen your question, what a refreshing idea. I got back from Morocco 2 days ago and spend quite a bit of time there. I think that anything at all you do will be invaluable for those who you are able to help. Something I'm constantly surprised at in Morocco is the lack of awareness of health issues, how to look after one's health and treat general everyday ailments. As far as the greatest lack of provision goes, in my experience this could be in Mental Health. I'm also concerned about the lack of sex education.
I'm wondering where you would be based, in a city or more rural area.
Best of luck with this admirable project.

Having trouble finding employment.....any tips?

We Answered:

You'll need to study to become a veterinary nurse. Without the appropriate knowledge there is no way you could be allowed to work. At best you could become a receptionist and see if the practice will fund your training but you'll still have to go to uni.
