What do you think about doctors' salaries? We Answered:
Ha HA I have been battling this on YA for years. All those people who think they are going to wake up and want to be doctors & get fabulous salaries. When you break it down to hourly pay (for the amount of hours you actually work for this salary) it gets really PATHETIC!!!!! Obviously we do not do it for the money, but it is very demoralizing to get paid LESS every year (as people refuse to pay their bills, or medicare reimburses less) and work longer, harder and get sued more.Pauline Said:
any nurses out there?We Answered:
I'm in the US but I will try to help. Here you do not specialize in a certain area at the beginning of nurses training. You can specialize once you have passed your board and are working, or you can go back to school and become a nurse practioner. Here the only time we traveled was when we could not get hands on experience near our school. An example was we had to travel to another city for our psych training.
Nurse is difficult. There is no room for error. Yes it does get old. I am now 57 years old and I do not want to return to floor nursing. I could not keep up the pace.
Salary, benefits, working hours all depend on were you work. I work for a non-profit organization, so my salary is not as high as if I was working in a hospital. But my benefits and working hours are excellent.
I hope some of this helps.

Is travel agent a good-paying job?We Answered:
The starting pay isn't very good, and the job security might not be there- look at the needs of society, and the trends of the economy. If not a lot of people can afford luxurious vacations, then the market for travel agents goes down- especially as more and more people book through budget sites on the internet to save a lot of money. It will make competition for those higher paying spots a bit more tough, so you'll have to work hard to stay in and move up.That said, it's not a life or death kind of job, so any stresses you have will be purely business related... your salary would be fine if it's just you and you're not extravagant, or if you combined it with a spouse who makes a bit more if you're wanting a family... (just trying to look at it from different angles). You won't have all the education expenses a Dr. might have, so hopefully wouldn't be in debt... There aren't many jobs where you make a ton of the money right from the start... usually it involves time and dedication to move up in a field.
It might be a fun job- especially if you got to travel to some of the nice locations as part of your work... but keep in mind that most of the time you'll be trying to sell those vacations to other folks- and your success will depend on your ability to push lots of people to pay for a vacation package. If you think you can do it, be good at it, and get some level satisfaction out of it, then go for it if it's something you want to do.

Non-medical question for other nurses!?We Answered:
Don't go to HR because they won't help you. On your night shift, there would be a charge nurse and you could give her the form to fill out. This should be acceptable as the charge nurse is also a floor supervisor. Check also to see if you also worked with a resident because they can also give you references. Yes they can give you references but you need to find someone who has the time and understanding of what a travel nurse does. Most nurses do not like travel nurses because they get paid more for the same job.
