Ups and downs of Traveling Nurses? We Answered:
Well, there are pros and con.Cons:
--Some nurses find it stressful to move so much. A different job and environment every 13 weeks.
--You need to be comfortable with new friends and surroundings. You will need to be outgoing to make friends.
--You need to feel comfortable hitting the ground running. Orientation is very brief, if at all.
Pros
--Able to see different ways of doing things. You will learn a lot. It is very easy to learn one way at home and not expand your wings. Travel, and you will.
--Great pay and benefits. This is the one thing you always hear nurses talk about. You will have a higher wage, free housing, health insurance, 401K, travel and license reimbursement plus many other benefits.
--And of course, the travel. You will be paid to work in areas of the country that you want to see.
Travel isn't for everyone, but anyone who is interested and it fits their lifestyle should give it a try. You really do get much more than you lose.
Good luck with your decision.

Travel Nursing?We Answered:
Almost all travel nursing agencies want a minimum of a year of experience working in acute care (hosptial). Some of them prefer 2-5 years. But once you have that experience under your belt, no, it's not very competative. Everyone I have ever known who wanted to get into it had no trouble at all. They only took the assignments they wanted in locations they wanted to travel to.
If I didn't have kids, I'd be traveling too! Maybe once they're off to college, that's what I'll do. :)
