Types Of Rn Nurses

Vanessa Said:

who gets paid more out of rn nurses and other types of nurses?

We Answered:

I'd say nurse practitioners because they can write scripts, which means more education. Just a guess though.

Andre Said:

What are the types of nurses?

We Answered:

there is a LVN: licensed vocational nurse; that is usually just a certificate type program, and can be done as quickly as 9 months in some places.

RN is registered nurse. There are two types of educational backgrounds for it: ADN (associate's degree; usually through a community college, typically takes 2 or 3 years) and BSN (bachelor's degree; usually takes 4 or 5 years). Either way you are an RN. However, the movement is now towards hiring ONLY BSN nurses in most hospitals. When people say I'm a nurse, usually they mean RN.

Then you can go on and get an advanced degree (Masters) and become a nurse practitioner or a clinical nurse specialist. You must have a BSN first, typically, and usually takes another 2 or 3 years. Most master's programs require at least 1 year of clinical experience.
