What Is Nursing

Virgil Said:

misdemeanor(shoplifting) +nursing school+ state boards. is my life ruined. can i get a job or ever be a nurse?

We Answered:

It's nothing to do with the reputation of the hospitals, it's whether they employ people with a theft record !! You have a trusted position and the public have to be protected, hence record checks.
Employers of nurses/carers in the UK have to be informed if you are arrested and they decide if you are still a suitable and fit person to practise, also the Nursing and Midwifery board have to be informed of trained nurses being arrested as they can strike you off the professional register depending on the offence.

Jason Said:

what is the fastest way of becoming some type of nurse in california? PLEASE HELP!?

We Answered:

You can't race thru a school like it's a fast food drive thru to become a nurse. It doesn't (and shouldn't) work that way. Peoples lives are at stake and it's a serious responsibility.

Mathew Said:

what kind of traning do i need to work in a nursing home?

We Answered:

A lot of nursing homes employ certified nursing assistants (CNA). They are responsible for feeding, moving, bathing, and changing clients. They also may take vitals. They do not give medications or shots, as the registered nurses (RN) are responsible for that. The training is very simple and easy. It usually takes 2 weeks to a month for the training. It depends on how many hours you want to go a day. You spend time in the classroom learning the procedures a CNA performs. You will also have a set amount of clinical hours (experience in the field). After completing both parts then you need to take your state certification test. There are two parts, a written portion and physical skills portion. You need to pay to take the course and to take the test. Once hired, most CNAs make at least 10 or 11 dollars. Look at your local Red Cross or community/technical colleges for these classes.
