Good question! I am an OT and I am constantly asked what I do and what is the difference between OT and PT. I often have people tell me "Honey, I am am retired, I don't need help finding a job." I did notice that someone said something along the lines that OTs aid PT. As a student, you should know that is not true. There is a grey area where OTs and PTs may treat the same thing, but there is a lot of skilled needs OTs are qualified to treat that PTs are not. As far as earnings - OTs generally make about the same - maybe a bit less, but not much. In the past few facilities/companies I worked for, it is the same.Good luck!
