Interesting Question.My opinion is that you should earn a bachelors degree (or higher) and then complete Medical school before you think about your branch of specialty. During Medical School, when you do your specialty rotations, you may come across a field which truly interest and fascinates you.
Taking your background into account; (EMT) i would suggest Emergency medicine, however the fallback to this branch is that you cannot admit patients. EM physicians contact the appropriate doctors to admit the patient.
Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Surgery may be of interest.
