Each regional center offers a different set of career options. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate a complete listing of all the programs nationwide.

Almost 100% of colleges require some sort of volunteer work under the supervision of an OT, so I don't think you will be getting out of that part. Just watch out though, b/c you might be required to be with an OT and not the assistant, my school did not count my hours under the assistant's supervision. So i wasted my time there.

I believe it is a great time to go into OT because it is a growing field with lots of job openings. Plus in the medical field, you pretty much can't go wrong.

Lastly, people ask what occupational therapy is because it is not a well known field, most people can identify what a physical therapist is, and the other common professions, but OT is in a realm of its own. It covers not only the physical aspect of the person, but also the emotional and psychological parts too, so trying to explain what it is can be challenging.

If you are considering an occupation that "doesn't require alot of school", massage is not the field for you! Though your initial training may only be 500 hours, it is a field of life long learning! Anatomy and Physiology is a challenging field! Massage is a very physical job also.
