Understanding scientific studies can be difficult, so here is my recommendation:"Previous studies have demonstrated that the effects of a structured exercise program in those with osteoarthritis are short-lived. Benefits decline once the physical activity declines. Yet, in a study comparing the effects of structured exercise combined with either occupational therapy or education in individuals with osteoarthritis, examiners concluded that occupational therapy had greater influence on activity level as compared to those who received education. This implies that occupational therapy may be beneficial to supplement a structured exercise program for individuals with osteoarthritis.
I am not an English major, but I am a PT...this is the point I feel the study is trying to make.
