Occupational Therapy Assistant Degree

Mildred Said:

Has(is) anyone pursued(ing) a degree as a Occupational Therapy assistant? Can it support a single woman?

We Answered:

The job prospects and salary are pretty similar to a physical therapy assistant (this might be SLIGHTLY less for COTA's, but we would be splitting hairs).

According to the bls, most COTA's earn between about $32,000-$44,000...very few earn over $52,000. I think this could comfortably support a single person, but would be difficult for a single mom.

P.S...both the PTA and COTAs degrees are typically an associate's degree at most programs.

Bill Said:

Would getting a bacholor's degree be benificial to an occupational therapy assistant???

We Answered:

I would get the Bachelors Degree, it will take you a lot of places!
