Occupational Therapy Assistant Program

Arthur Said:

Occupational Therapy Assistant???

We Answered:

I currently got accepted into an occupational therapy graduate program. If you don't mind school, go for the full OTR degree. You'll need a bachelor's degree and a graduate degree to practice. Just keep your grades up in your undergrad years and build good relationships with your professors (you'll need good letters of recommendation for most grad programs). If it's really what you want to do with your life, go for it! I know I'm nervous but very excited to start my classes in the fall! :) You can do it!

Leslie Said:

Can I get into a master's program for occupational therapy with a 3.2 GPA? I'm worried that it's too low

We Answered:

It all depends on the school that you are trying to get into. way back when I went to OT school, the school that I went to (UTMB) was much more interested in having a class of well rounded, socially skilled, flexible, and creative students versus the high strung strait A students (I had great classmates). Look for a school that interviews students in person as part of the admission process. When a school goes through that much trouble to find good students, they obviously want more than just a good grade. So, don't sweat it, get engaged in some interesting hobbies, show that you can be flexible, good under pressure, and have good coping skills and you'll be fine.

Louise Said:

Can I be enrolled at 1 school getting my bachelors in 1 thing and enrolled at another getting my associates?

We Answered:

Yes you can enroll in 2 schools at the same time. I will tell you if you are interested in the OTA program, you will not be able to manage. The program includes clinicals that are full time days. You will not be able to schedule your classes appropriately and the OTA program is a lot of work. Finish your AAS and then finish your BS/BA. Best wishes
