Occupational Therapy Assistant as a spring board?

We Answered:

We had students with both backgrounds.

The only possible benefit I could see would be:

OTA program would be a fallback if life interferes with your long term plans

Gen ed. program gives you a broader educational background which will be helpful in graduate school.

Steven Said:

What can an Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant do other than work as a OT/OTA?

We Answered:

i'm not really sure what you mean. occupational therapists can work in so many different settings doing different things yet they are still called an occupational therapist. they can work in a psych setting running groups, in a hospital helping rehabilitation after surgery, in a school helping kids with handwriting, posture, coordination, etc., can visit people's houses and make sure it's safe for someone to live in, considering their condition for example rugs on the floor, electrical cords they might trip on, etc. can visit people's homes and do early intervention with babies or older home bound people. there are sooo many options.

Can I be an occupational therapy assistant with fighting in public on my criminal record?

We Answered:

Leroy Said:

Which states do you NOT need a "state license" to practice as a COTA (occupational therapy assistant) in?

We Answered:

I believe all states require COTA's to practice under a license. Your travel company will know what states are easiest to get licenses in. Some states do take longer than others. Traveling is a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it.

Felicia Said:

How to become a certified Occupational Therapy assistant?

We Answered:

Different states have different standards. Check with the licensing authority in your state.

However, do you really want to spend your days basket-weaving, with people who barely know you're in the room?
