Adam Said:

Is Occupational Therapy a good field to get into?

We Answered:

A cousin had gone to school for occupational therapy assistant (ota) and while the job is rewarding, it may be both mentally and physically draining. It seems as though a lot of the jobs are at nursing homes/long-term care facilities working with residents (prefered term for 'patients' who usually reside there) who have had a stroke ("brain attack"), fractured (broken) hip, endurance and stamina issues, patient with an amputated limb or such.

With nursing (or any field, in particular, ones working with patients), if unsure of your interest, please consider another field as people usually know if they would like to pursue nursing or not :)

Please note that those online, for-profit schools (may have 'bricks and mortar' buildings and may be 'accredited') such as penn foster, kaplan, everest, ITT tech, sanford brown, walden, strayer, colorado tech, remington, capella, ashworth, university of phoenix and others are merely out to 'make a profit' (and course credits may Not transfer): http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

OT, OTA, PTA, Respiratory Therapist?!?

We Answered:

It really depends on you. If you can not handle sputum, RRT is not for you but a great field. Lots of jobs. Probably the most money of the three in salary.

COTA--there are jobs-probably the lost paying of the three

PTA--there are jobs

All three are tough curriculum's for a 2 year degree. All are in demand. You can not go wrong with any of them. You need to feel which is better for your personality

Best wishes

career in occupational therapy?

We Answered:

Try to shadow both before you decide. OT programs are becoming part of a masters degree so it might take longer than special education.

We Answered:
