Occupational Therapy Grants

Veronica Said:

Should I go to the newspaper if I don't get results from an IEP???????

We Answered:

I work in Sp. Ed. so here is a question for you and maybe some options also. First of all, does your son's Autism prevent him from functioning at the same level as his peers? There are certainly different aspects of Autism, and it doesn't affect every child the same way. My personal opinion is that he should continue to receive services even if it is on an "as needed" basis. This is called "monitoring". You should definitely speak to the IEP committee again, and request that a higher authority be present at that meeting. You may also invite a child advocate (outsider) to attend the meeting with you. Be prepared with every question/response that may arise. Do NOT sign an IEP unless you are completely satisfied with its contents. Good luck to you.

I need a grant to become an occupational therapy assistant!?

We Answered:

The best place is to go to the college's financial aid office. There is a print version of the FAFSA form. It will qualify you for the Pell Grant, work study program, need based scholarships from the college's endowment fund, and student loans. It needs to be completed yearly. The local library has a book listing scholarships with some not even located on the web. Unfortunately, these are the only two sources since almost everything is listed on the web. Good luck!
