Occupational Therapy Health

Valerie Said:

can someone who has been abused earlier in life work in the health profession; occupational therapy, physical?

We Answered:

Being abused in itself will not stop you working in the health profession. You won't even be asked to disclose such information. However, if you have recieved medical treatment for mental health problems recently it may prevent you from starting your occupational therapy degree. For example, I know to start on nursing courses the general rule is you cant have recieved treatment for mental illness in the past 2 years (more for eating disorders). If you have any concerns about your health it's best to contact the occupational health department of the universities you want to apply to. Good luck!
