Do I Have Any Chances of Getting Into These Schools? Please Read?

Not sure if I can help you on the specifics as to what colleges you can get into per se, but I'll try and give some advice. First off, get your test scores up. I don't know if you really need a tutor, because all the material on the ACT and SAT are information you should know by your senior year in some way or another. Just focus on using the skills and info you've learned in the right way for the test. Mainly, just take a lot of practice tests and don't get too discouraged. I'm not sure if attending a private school is that great on a transcript if you have a bad class rank (I don't know if your GPA is on a weighted or non-weighted scale), shoot for top 10% for sure. You probably won't get any straight answers for whether you can get into the schools because I doubt the people on yahoo answers are any of the people that run admissions at which ever institution. I'm sure you'll have a good chance of getting into Ohio St. because of your family; I doubt they'll turn you down. Chances are you'll be on the borderline for most of these schools though, make sure you visit their campus if you are that interested, because that will show up when they're deciding your admission status. Anyway, good luck.

Any Shot of Getting In?

one thing that i can tell you is that if your dad is an alumni from Ohio State that can somewhat affect your chances in a good way of getting in to Ohio State (: that's as much as I can definitely tell you.

oh and also dont worry; you can always study for the SAT and ACT. I am. I'm reading through the test books [Im taking the SAT in May and ACT in april D: ] anywho, that you can study for. your classes. understand that junior year is the most challenging academically. so take some AP courses and honors. That's what I'm doing. and from there look at the schools you want to attend and see there admission requirements and what they looks for.

You really need to raise your test scores. Colleges take everything into account, but the two most important criteria are your test scores and average GPA. Ohio state's average ACT score is 25-29, so you need to get at least somewhere in that ballpark. You also need to raise your GPA. You should probably get around a 3.6. Other than that, your extracurricular activities are good, keep that up. I recommend going to a bookstore and buying a booklet on colleges. I believe there's a magazine-type of thing that ranks the colleges. It's called US something or other. That helps you out when picking colleges if you can't go visit all of the campuses. Don't buy the big books like from collegeboard that describe colleges, it's essentially just a big information book with facts, all of that you can find online.

I just reread your info and noticed I missed a few things. You definitely have a better chance than most if you go to a prep school. Your chances are also slightly raised if you have immediate family that went there. However, you still need to raise your test score, without a good test score, it will be VERY tough to get in (I don't want to insult you, but that is the #1 thing you need to do right now).

For the recommendation I'd get someone else to write it unless you don't have any other good people to write for you. Colleges will probably prefer a recommendation from an actual teacher that you studied under because they're more interested in academics than your sports capabilities (unless you're applying for a sports scholarship). Whoever you get to write it, make sure they're good at writing things like that- counselors, English teachers and writing teachers will be good at that. Also, make sure you get as many as possible so that you can pick from the cream of the crop and send only the best ones to the colleges.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."
Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Do I Have A Chance of Getting Into Any of These Schools?

Most state schools should probably take you (def. not Penn State, though--isn't that Ivy League?), despite the testing scores (but you should try to raise your GPA just a tad). A lot of schools are even doing away with the SAT and ACT scores and going on GPA and that stuff (those are mostly private schools which do that). Also, you are a sophomore, so you have time to get your test scores up (and they do let you take them more than once). Tutors for those tests can run up to $1500, and honestly, you can do just as well buying the SAT practice book and studying from it, and buying an SAT manual to know how to work the system (a lot of the SAT is just knowing the tricks). Good luck!
