Stephanie Said:

Should I give up on acting?

We Answered:

IT would be interesting to see how many of your answereres thus far would continue under the conditions you have endured. Your story is one that is not all that unusual. I continually warn people not to go into debt to go to acting school, it is not worth it, and acting school is not all it is cracked up to be. I have seen the kind of discrimination you descibe before in a highly regarded NYC acting school --it happens in both directons, rich against poor, poor against rich, colored against white, white against colored. That is a shame because the acting industry was the first to establish racial equality and is mostly color blind. .. So here is my advice. You don't have to become an actor tomorrow. You have your whole life. (I was 40 when I got my first professional role). Your health and well being are the most important things. You cannot be an actor if you are not in good health. If your "man" is a real man, he will help you overcome your debts and ailments, and support your being an actress.
