Occupational therapy?

We Answered:

I have been an OT for 25 years. There are many venues an OT can work in. I started out in a general hospital doing primarily out-patient hand therapy. I also worked with in-patients with a variety of diagnosis. I've consulted with nursing homes to set up therapy programs for long-term and short-term residents. For the past several years, I have worked in the public school setting with children pre-school through high school all with varying disabilities. The degrees vary from a 2 year associate degree to be a certified occupational therapy assistant, a 4 year bachelor degree to be a registered occupational therapist, and also master and doctoral level OT's.

Adrian Said:

is there anyone who is studying or has studied Occupational therapy?

We Answered:

I have been an OT for 9 years. I enjoyed school very much (although there were classes like neuro-anatomy that I was very glad to be done with - I studied so much!!!). I have worked in an acute setting in a hospital, a rehab hospital, nursing homes, and home health. My main job is home health now since that is the most flexible and it pays well. Typically, I make about $70 per 45 minute visit plus 50 cent a mile. I also work in a rehab hospital and make $45 an hour. If you are interested in the field, I recommend you call a local OT and see if you can observe him or her. The best thing would be to try to observe several OTs in different settings- my friend works with autistic kids -I could NEVER do that - but I love working with kids in an acute hospital setting. A good website to check out is www.aota.org
Good luck

Is anyone else studying occupational therapy in liverpool sept 2010?

We Answered:

Everyone else in your class is.

Liverpool is a vibrant city. The city centre is very 21st century, with the old docks developed into smart leisure facilities.
