Occupational Therapy Vs Physical Therapy

Armando Said:

Physical vs Occupational Therapy?

We Answered:

PTs will be more likely to work with children with developmental delays in the early intervention stage. OTs would be more likely to work with a child with a hand impairment or a sensory integration disorder.

PTs are more likely to work with people who have had leg amputations...OTs will work with those with arm amputations.

Both are in demand...there are more PT jobs out there than OTs jobs, yet there are also more PTs than OTs...so they both come out somewhat equal in the long run. I would say both will be under the same strains in healthcare reform.

However, it sounds like you have more interest in being a PT working in an early intervention program or with an amputee clinic.
