During the most recent recession the healthcare sector actually grew where every other sector contracted. If your boyfriend's worried about job security this is the right way to go. PTs and OTs are ALWAYS in high demand, like nurses.

Being an OT is not easy work but it can be very rewarding. The job of the OT is to help patients improve their functional independence so they can do more things for themselves. You're working with people who are not in the best place in their life because of a recent accident/illness so they can be challenging to deal with at times, both psychologically and physically. The hours are very consistent because people only go to therapy during the day, and you don't have to take your work home with you ever. Some facilities offer therapy 7 days a week so you might need to work weekends.

An occupational therapist requires at least a bachelor's degree as well as certification. Check out the link below for more specific information on certification, state-specific requirements, etc. The salary for an OT varies by location but the average range in NY is between $80-95k.

body movement almost always comes from muscle contraction and never muscle elongation. so, a muscule can move two points closer together but it can never push them apart. So, note two body parts moving closer together and then figure if there is a muscle in between them.
