Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Herbert Said:

Are there pediatric therapy centers in Clarksville, TN?

We Answered:

From the website for Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville:

"Pediatric Therapy

Pediatric Therapy helps children with developmental problems and special needs obtain the skills needed to help them function alongside their peers."

I would call the army hospital directly to find out if the provide the services you need. Check the links below.

Thank you for your service and best of luck to you.

What should I major in to become a pediatric OT?

We Answered:

To be honest where you have to start will differ slightly from school to school and state to state. So you best bet will be to set up a meeting with a college counselor and get it straight from the school....curriculums change from time to time and therefore classes will change. You can also get started in a program no that you can start taking classes now and get a jump start...look into that too!

Dana Said:

pediatric therapy options?

We Answered:

You have to have a graduate degree to be an occupational therapist or a child psychologist (I'm assuming that's what you mean by "actual therapy"). You can become an occupational therapy assistant with a 2 year degree, but it doesn't pay nearly as much as having a Master's.

Vera Said:

What therapies do pediatric occupational therapists use for kids with sensory processing disorder?

We Answered:

my daughter is pdd-nos (high functioning autism). Anyway she has sensory issues and has been going to see an OT for the last year. They do a lot of different things that make them go beyond their boundries. Like my daughter had an issue with touch (like messy hands, etc) so she played and wrote in shaving cream and got it all over her hands. Different things like that, things that forced them or build them up to go beyond what they are comfortable with. Hope that helps somewhat, good luck!

Erika Said:

Would I be paranoid to pull my preemie out of therapy during the swine flu scare?

We Answered:

You should discuss this with the therapists, there may be risks to postponing therapy.

Also keep in mind that this isn't going to blow over in a few weeks and more than likely its going to come back in the fall.
