Physical Therapy Assistant

Ethel Said:

Can I Be a Physical Therapy Assistant If I have a Bachelors in Kinesiology?

We Answered:

In order to be a PTA, you must go to school to be a PTA ( 2 more years.) As a person with a BS, you would be better going into a DPT program for 3 years.

Sue Said:

Should I be a Physical Therapy Assistant?

We Answered:

It's projected to grow at a rate much faster than average and is predicted to be in demand for many years to come.

The downside is that you will reach your ceiling in your career very early (although there is now some expansion of advanced clinical specialties for PTAs)...most PTAs max salary at this current time is about $50,000. Finally, many students become PTAs thinking they can transition to the PT degree...unfortunately, the transition does not give you any credit for having the PTA degree.

It's a good job for a two year degree.
