Physical Therapy Degree

Yvonne Said:

What can you do with a Pre-Physical therapy degree?

We Answered:

Pre PT is not a degree. It is a set of pre reqs that you get with a major. *gen chem, gen physics, gen bio, A and P, math, psy, and stats. Most common BS degrees for people want to go to PT school are kinesiology, athletic training, exercise science, health or rehab science. With ATC, you can take the exam and work as a AT on the field at sporting events. With exercise science, you can sit for the CSCS exam and work as a personal trainer. For the rest, You can work as an aide, you can become a CNA and work at a nursing home. The pre req courses are general sciences for the most part. You do not learn wellness unless you major in ES or sports injuries with AT.

Lucille Said:

confusions in getting a physical therapy degree?

We Answered:

No, they are missing something. You've got it right. What they probably don't understand is that physical therapy is a graduate degree, requiring a bachelor's degree or at least 3 years of undergaduate work before the PT program.

It's like being a lawyer...you don't major in law as an undergraduate, that is your graduate degree...their undergraduate is either a pre-law program or a BS in poly sci, business, etc.
