I need some career advice...do I go with occupational therapy, interior design, or something else?We Answered:
Sarah Ann, It is my belief that you should continue in your current classes as an occupational therapist and if your time and schedule allow you could take architectural structure and design. If you complete your occupational therapist studies you may find a good paying job while at the same time looking into your other wanted career.
Which ever way that you decide I wish you a clear mind and a successful career throughout your life. Jose

will it matter if i major in psychology insted of biology to persue occupational therapy? We Answered:
I think it is fine but you have to fulfill what is required of Occupational therapist because you have to take biology and anatomy and physiology and other courses. So you will likelier be busy majoring psychology and taking tons of other courses to satisfy occupational therapy as oppose to biology for OT.Diane Said:
I'm an occupational therapy major. What is an appropriate minor for me to choose? We Answered:
All those sound good. I think the Montessori Education will give you quite a different perspective on it.I only know of a few schools that offer that as a minor. I think it's a great minor to offer. My mom started offering it as a minor when she was director of a University Montessori program in Cincinnati. It became a really popular minor.

occupational therapy assistant?We Answered:
Those who major in pre-OT are usually taking prerequisites for a professional OT program such as for a master's degree (which may take about six years of college if attending on a full-time basis). The courses usually required for OT(R) or Occupational Therapist, Registered, are the sciences (including biology, chemistry, physics and anatomy & physiology), math and other prereq classes. There are no guarantees as to actually getting accepting into any program whehter it be OTA or OT. With OTR admissions, however, are especially competitive as there are only a certain number of seats per graduating class and a lot of prospective OT students need to have a high gpa (grade point average) in prereq classes and especially the sciences.Regarding OTA, one doesn't necessarily need to take pre-OT but instead look at the prereq classes required for that particular program. Each school may have slightly different prereq's and requirements.
Before taking prereq classes, please job shadow/observe in the various departments in which OT may be administered such as a physicial rehabilitation hospital working with patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), spinal cord injury/paralysis, hip/shouder/knee replacement, amputated limb, hip fracture - pediatric hospital - nursing home/long-term care facility or such.
With schooling, please forgo those private overly priced For-profit tech schools such as pima institute, anthem, sanford brown, argosy, kaplan, ITT tech, walden, keiser, brown mackie and others as they are merely out to "make a profit" (** and course credits may NOT transfer to other schools).
These consumer sites have negative posts by former students about those private $$ for-profit tech schools, and please heed the students' warnings:

Please instead consider the more affordable community college as long as the program is accredited within the industry.

pre-pharmacy or occupational therapy?We Answered:
Which one would offer you more growth? Pharmacy seems a bit dead-end to me. Occupational therapy - you can later expand that to massages or go in the direction of alternative therapies.Eduardo Said:
should i major in biology or psychology, to persue occupational therapy? We Answered:
I just really like biology!
