Kathy Said:

My daughter has a developmental delay, does she qualify for SSI?

We Answered:

The only way to know if she qualifies, is to apply. Does she have a formal diagnosis? Many times, an actual diagnosis will weigh more when applying for SSI. It does sound like she has significant needs. It definitely won't hurt to apply... Good Luck

Dana Said:

I have a 9yr old son who was diagnosed with aspbergers can he get social security?

We Answered:

generally behavioral disorders are not covered under social security, but there is more detailed info on the SS website.

ssa.gov

you'll have to fill out an application and they will decide. That being said, i have a friend who's child is autistic and he was denied, as he was able to benefit from special ed.
