You can be an assistant to a speech-language pathologist. Most assistants work in school settings with children, because assistants are not allowed to treat dysphagia (swallowing problems) which is often a part of adult treatment in nursing homes, rehabs, and hospitals. Assistants assist the therapist with paperwork and can carry out treatment plans that the therapist writes under supervision.

Not only are they preferred, they are usually required. Unless you are in a really specialized bachelors degree program, you will need an advanced degree or certification.

i'm having a similar problem with my major. for the best situation, i would try to do a double major in something that you think you'll enjoy (or try a few classes before deciding on your second major). if worse comes to worse, you can work as a speech pathologist for a bit and go back to school to get a master's in something else. wish these things were easier... have you ever taken career tests or anything of the sort before? your school might offer a long one for free to help you decide on something else you would want to do.

I think you could find a job, maybe you should start sending your resume out to serveral organizations (Princess Elizabeth, Lady Hochoy, etc
