Training Occupational Therapy

Harvey Said:

Does anyone have any recommendations for OT Driver's training in the SF bay area?

We Answered:

I would highly recommend the driver OT program at John Muir hospital at Walnut Creek.

Complete assessment with on the road observation. They also make recommendations on what you need to be able to do to get behind the wheel again.

i am currently training to become a 68W (combat medic) what do i need to do to get added training like cardio?

We Answered:

Meaning you're already in AIT? The only way I can think of is do really well in classes and come out in the top percent of your company. Let your Plt Ldr know that you're interested in getting an Identifier. If they have any spots available, they'll put you in. If not, you'll have to wait til you get out of AIT and go to your unit or duty station and then let your chain of command know. Good luck!

Occupational Therapy vs. Clinical Massage Therapist vs. Physical Therapist?

We Answered:

Depends on your state's requirements as they vary. Below is a general guideline.

If you have the ability to go to college, I would NOT recommend massage practitioner for a long-term career option. I will not say massage "therapist" because true therapists have master's or doctorate degrees, which takes 5-8 years. In the US the average massage program is 8 months. (Some of the massage programs in Canada do quality their graduates to be true therapists.)

Massage in the US is not a true profession. It's considered more like escorting. That's the big difference between massage and the other two, which are true health care professions.
