Travel Therapy Jobs

Paula Said:

What is the key to being a traveling respiratory therapist?

We Answered:

It's fairly easy to get licensed in most states, and usually pretty quick. I haven't traveled, but a lot of my friends who are RT's have. California can be a bit of a pain, because there's an EXTENSIVE background check, and the license is expensive. Beyond that, I think as long as you keep your paperwork together, you can usually fax all the necessary info to the state in question. Your travel company can help you out with deadlines, websites, phone numbers, etc. And the earlier you find out about a potential position, the earlier you can get your license stuff done. Sometimes travel companies will reimburse the license costs, so make sure you ask about that. Have fun!

What to put on my massage therapy business card?

We Answered:

I think that having a business card and maybe a website would convey a sort of professionalism that makes it clear that you are not offering the "rub and tug" technique. Those sorts of borderline prostitutes tend to advertise in the back of shady local magazines and craigslist. They don't usually have business cards. And to add to the professionalism, make sure it says "Licensed Massage Therapist" or whatever the credentials are these days (RMT, etc). If you give out your business cards in upstanding places, that helps. If you leave your cards in a shop that sells pipes and bongs, then who knows what kind of calls you'll get.

someone tell me about traveling respiratory therapy. salary, job,?

We Answered:

if you have a decent work history and can score well on their clinical testing then go for it. the pay can be very good!! but watch out for the pitfalls like who pays what and when does it get paid. some companies make you front the money for lodging, food, gas, etc. then reimburse you according to thier pay scales. other companies have prepaid lodging and a set amount given you for food, utilities etc. i cant possibly cover all the possibilities but you get the picture. since you will be signing a contract make sure you discuss it thouroughly with them. anything you dont understand get clarified before signing. in fact get a blank copy of the contract and show it to someone else, sometimes they see things that you are emotionally to blind to see. like i said the pay can be good but the hours may suck. be sure you know what you are getting for your sacrifice of time, away from home, and lonliness. pay wise CRTT about 24 per hour, registered about 30, maybe a few more or a few less. also check to see what happens if you were to get sick or injured and unable to complete a 2 month or 3 month obligation.

Should I Switch Massage Therapy Jobs? Work Harder for more pay, closer to home? Already a stressed student!!?

We Answered:

I would invest in my future now and endure the hardships of the longer drive and lower wages. Once you have the schooling that you are seeking then make a change in your position. In the short run the quick cash now seems tempting but having extra money and being too exhausted to enjoy it is such a waste.

Jobs working with animals that PAY? Pet therapy?

We Answered:

You are absolutely correct that the only animal career that pays well is veterinarian.
However, if you're business savvy you might be able to start up your own business and become successful. Doggie day cares are very popular right now. Especially in larger cities... people are willing to pay quite a bit of money to send their dogs to someone to play with all day. Also, fancier boarding facilities are becoming more and more popular (or even anything that's better than a stainless steel cage). But, location is important with both of these. You're going to want to set up in a more affluent area where people can afford these luxuries. You can also add on self-service options to any of these, offer your clients a place to give their own dogs a bath. You can also offer training courses, behavior therapy, etc.
Other more traditional options usually pull in less money (groomers, trainers, etc). Most smaller petshops are going under because of large chains such as petsmart and petco so that's not a good idea.
Doggie day care businesses are booming right now. I seriously suggest you look into business education. At the very least, you could probably get a job as an office manager at a vet clinic. Also, you don't have to be a vet to own a vet clinic. You would just need to hire vets to work in your clinic. But, you could be in charge of the whole operation.

Besides vets, these are really the most profitable jobs working with animals.

We Answered:

I'd do beauty......you will be able to work in any country with it and you'll even be able to make more money doing ppl's nails and stuff at home. I wouldn't want to work as an air stewardess, you're basically a glorified waitress??!!! Also if you did beauty you'll learn in depth knowledge n good tips for keeping your skin youthful for as long as possible!! I vote beauty chicks.................xxx
