Ubc Occupational Therapy

Sharon Said:

Occupational therapy universities canada?

We Answered:

This is how your question should have read:

Which OT program in Canada is more clinically-/practically-based than research-based. Are McMaster, UBC and UWO more research-based? I know UofT is very academically-based... Are there any more clinically-based programs in Canada?

Can you spot the changes? I note you used 'clinically-based' correctly in the last sentence.

Why not use the contact information from the university listing at the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists site here:

http://www.caot.ca/default.asp?pageid=15…

For something as important as a choice of school for OT, you should NOT rely on YA. You need to contact the schools in which you are interested and talk to someone there.

University of Alberta: Occupational therapy?

We Answered:

Hi;

I graduated from the U of A in 1996. It was not a master's program at that time but was very competitive to get into. It should be as competitive or more to get in now. That said, it was a great program and an incredible learning experience.

They are continuing that commitment to excellence by reinvesting in the programs. For example, the current Presidents of the Canadian Association of OT and the World Federation of OT are both U of A faculty.

The specific minimum requirements are high but attainable. They are listed on this page: http://www.gradstudies.ualberta.ca/depts/occutherapy.htm

http://www.uofaweb.ualberta.ca/ot/MSc_in_OT_Course-based_Route.cfm

Margaret Wood can be reached by following this page. She would answer any specific questions. http://www.uofaweb.ualberta.ca/ot/How_to_Apply.cfm

I spent one beautiful summer on the UBC campus, I was not doing OT. I'm sure the OT program is of very high quality. Expect precipitation (high chance of rain.)

Good Luck with your decision,
