Career As A Pharmacist

Marion Said:

What steps should be taken to prepare for a successful career as a pharmacist?

We Answered:

right now really all you need is the degree and you get a job. schools are getting more and more competitive to get into every year- and when applying to schools, they care about your grades a lot. as long as you graduate and have good people skills you wont have a problem landing a job (at this point in time anyway). other than that from what i hear residency is probably the best way to set yourself apart from the rest, they dont really care much about grades as long as you got the degree (or so i hear).

Lillian Said:

What courses should you take in college to pursue a career as a pharmacist?

We Answered:

There's an entire set of "pre-pharm" courses that you need to take, or you can apply to special pharm programs that bridge undergrad and grad school. I don't know enough myself to give you the course specifics, but google prepharm or look at the program requirements for a few PharmD programs.

Joanne Said:

What steps do I need to take in order to pursue a career as a pharmacist?

We Answered:

Most schools have a specific pharmacy program that take about 6 years to complete. It would be a good idea to try and work as a clerk at your local pharmacy to start building your resume. I think you need certification to be a technician.

Ethel Said:

Is it more difficult to pursue a career as a pharmacist or a dermatologist?

We Answered:

pharmacy is a big chemistry field, so if chemistry isn't your best subject, dermatology might be a better choice.

i would imagine that there are better job opportunities for a pharmacist than a dermatologist, but anything in the medical field will always have good job prospects. check out this site, it may help:

this is a site linking to the bureau of labor's occupational outlook handbook. hope it helps.

Roger Said:

What majors lead to a career as a pharmacist?

We Answered:

In the US:

Whatever you want. Pharmacy, like most of the graduate medical field schools, doesn't require specific majors. They could care less, as long as you take the courses they require.

Pharm school is another 4 years after you finish your undergrad.

Wilma Said:
