Cvs Pharmacy Careers

Herbert Said:

Career options available in pharmacy?

We Answered:

I worked as a nurse for like a zillion years and I always relied heavily on the hospital pharmacists when working as a med nurse. It's certainly never boring in a hospital! In a small to mid-sized hospital chances are you'd be the department head. That would entail budget, staffing, physical plant planning ... lots more than just being the guy behind the counter at Walgreen's!

I expect there are pharmacists at drug rehab. facilities and some nursing facilities. There is also a market for small, independant pharmacies in just about any town, be it large or small. In those locations the pharmacists are way more connected to patients than at the large retail places.

I imagine there are teaching opportunities in the pharmacy tech. schools as well. That might be fun after a few years of working as a pharmacist.

I hope you discover something that appeals to you, there's sure a lot of opportunity for pharmacists in any community.

Rodney Said:

Is on the job training for Pharm Tech worth the $8hr or just taking the exam?

We Answered:

Why can't you do both? Study and make a little money while at it. Are you referring to the PTCB exam or a state exam? Did you go to PTCB.org and see what the requirements are the exam? I was in the navy and we all went and took it but we were techs for years before we took it. Do both, work and study if you can.

Patrick Said:

What degree do I need to work at a pharmacy?

We Answered:

Well for a pharmacy technician you don't need a degree. You just need to get certified by taking a test.

If you want to become a pharmacist then you need to do 2 years (full time) of prerequisites at a community college and then you have to do an additional 3 - 4 years (full time) of pharmacy school. Some schools will cram it in to 3 years. So, in total, you'll be in school at least 5 - 6 years. In order to work somewhere you'll need to have your Pharm D (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree.

And, yes, pharmacists can easily make $100, 000 or more a year.

Good luck to you!

Thelma Said:

pharmacy tech as a second part time job?

We Answered:

A pharmacy technician position is an excellent part-time job. It can be a career position if you choose to make it one. I can admit that the pay is fair for an hourly rate job and should you ever find yourself laid off from your full-time position, you may be able to transition into a full-time pharmacy technician position.

Tyler Said:

Is this a good cover letter for applying at CVS for pharmacy tech?

We Answered:

It reads kind of odd in places. I have made some corrections. Best of luck,

(find out who the pharmacy manager is and put their name here),

I'm writing in response to your job posting on *** for a pharmacy technician. My application and resume are enclosed. I want to express my sincere interest in the position, and would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you further about this career opportunity.

I completed a pharmacy technician course provided by ***** and I am licensed by the California State Board of Pharmacy, which qualifies me for the job position. Although my pharmacy experience is limited to my training, I am confident I will acquire the necessary skills within a short amount of time. I will be a dedicated employee if given the opportunity to work in your organization.

I would like to schedule an interview. My schedule is flexible and I can meet with you at anytime. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Bill Said:

are there any requirements to be a pharmacy service associate?

We Answered:

If your talking about a pharmacy tech you need to become certified in your state. Here is the website you need to visit www.ptcb.org it tells you how to become certifited, test sites in your area, etc. Anything you need to know is on that site, also this is the site you would use to get registered to take the test to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
