Education Required To Become Pharmacist

Holly Said:

Does anyone have information about the education required to become a pediatric pharmacist?

We Answered:

Most pharmacy degrees are a five year bachelor's program. Pediatric pharmacy is just a specialized version.

Herman Said:

How much education do you require to become a pharmacist?

We Answered:

Usually you have to have about 3-4 years of pharmacy school and then you could do a 1 yr. residency. But after you become one you need to renew your liscence every year. :)
i dont know if it will help much but..yeah

Norman Said:

Can I do this? Get a ASN in Nursing become an RN than go to school to become a Pharmacist?

We Answered:

Some of the requirements for nursing and pharmacy overlap, but pre-pharmacy requires a full year of chmistry, a full year of organic chemistry, and biochemistry, as well as more math than nursing. So, you will have to check carefully at the College of Pharmacy that you want to enter, to be sure that you have the exact, correct prerequisites.

You can check the Pharmacy schools by looking at the website of the Association of American Colleges of Pharmacy. They have links to every accredited US College of Pharmacy and you can read the exact authoritative facts for each one of them you are interested in.

This is a tough set of courses that you are planning to take., Good luck!

Robin Said:

Is a 6-year pharmacy program 6 years without the first two years of general education in college or with them?

We Answered:

The six-year pharmacy program is a special program which compresses the eight years into six during with the bachelor's degree is earned and the Pharm.D. is awarded at the end. I am not certain which classes are omitted. The program is entered directly from high school, is offered at only a few universities and is very competitive for admission.

The usual path is a four-year bachelor's degree and then a four-year Pharm.D. degree, usually at a different university.
