Hospital Pharmacy Career
Donald Said:
Is hospital pharmacy a good career? We Answered:
My mother is a hospital pharmacist, so I'll do my best to answer based on our experience. :)The pay is very good for hospital pharmacy, usually much better than retail. I believe the average pay range is between 50,000 a year and $100,000 a year. Compared to most jobs, it's not particularly taxing or stressful, and the hours are generally flexible. I remember my mother being home for me a lot when I was a kid. However, hospital pharmacists are sometimes on call, so you may be called into work for a few hours when something goes wrong. My mom usually ends up getting called in once every few weeks. Workshops/training sessions are very sparse... I think my mother goes for training once a year or so.
Overall, I'd say yes! It's a good job with decent pay for some pretty easy work, allows time to raise kids, and you've always got the satisfaction of knowing you've saved people's lives! ^_^
Go for it!

what is the first thing that I have to do to pursue my career I graduated Pharmacy in the Philippines? We Answered:
You cannot use your education from the Philippines over here without reevaluation of your grades and courses as well as possible recertification and that takes at least two years.Bernard Said:
Question for Licensed Pharmacy Technicians? We Answered:
Well...I waited until after, but you'll more than likely get hired even if you are in the process of it. A lot of people get hired at their internships, and they can pay for you to take the test.Ramona Said:
Which pharmacy career should I pursue? We Answered:
You don't get to choose that - at least not yet.Retail pharmacist is very tedious. Go watch one work at your local pharmacy.
p.s. You needn't be a pharmacist to be a rep. A BA degree is usually required. You have to be a good sale person.

I am becomeing a Pharmacy Technician, any good places that I should conder for work?We Answered:
I would HIGHLY suggest you work in a hospital.Retail pharmacy technicians (like CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, etc.) don't make very much compared to technicians that work in a hospital. I worked at Safeway when I was 17 as a pharmacy technician (not certified) and I only made $8.00 an hour. It was horrible!
I have been a certified pharmacy technician for almost 5 years now. I work in a hospital pharmacy and I'm the Pyxis administrator for my hospital (I'm only 21!). A Pyxis machine holds all the medications (tablets, oral suspensions, IV fluid, etc). I also make IV fluid, compound oral medication, compound ointments, dispense medication and controlled medication (narcotics) and maintain the machines (just to name a few). I make $16.70 an hour and I get a raise every year.
Good luck!
