It really is hard to get everything to fall in to place, as you are finding out.
Be honest with your boss and tell him/her you need to scale back your hours a bit. If you are a good employee, he/she will be willing to let you do this. As for making a bit less, well, then you will have to refigure your budget. Working toward your major is more important than the extra money. It will pay off in the long run and it's more important that you are doing something that makes you happy rather than just paying the bills.
