North Carolina Pharmacy Jobs

Darren Said:

I may be working in New York, yet live out of state, and I am only 16. Is this possible?

We Answered:

I don't know about working papers. I don't think it is legal in ANY state to work in as a pharmacy tech at 16.

I HAVE A SERIOUS SITUATION, WHAT DO I DO !?

We Answered:

that's really sad, im sorry :/

if you have neighbors, go door to door and ask them if they need their lawn mowed, if they would pay you to clean their house, or walk their dogs? people pay for that kind of thing.

and if their are elderly people in your neighboorhood, definatley go there they always need things done, and are usually up for paying you.

if they say no to paying you, just keep asking others.

What is the most affordable and complete health insurance?

We Answered:

Wow! That's a difficult question to answer. What is good for one person or family may not work in your situation. The proof of the advertising that you read is exposed when it's time to get treatment. Then you'll find out if the company is any good. Companies could change coverage after you've signed up. Co-pays may increase, drug selections may become limited or change, monthly premiums will increase, selection of doctors may be restricted or even difficult to find. You may have a doctor that you trust but is not on one company's preferred list, but is on another company's list. But that company may have very high premiums or other benefits you can't afford or are uncomfortable with. HMO vs PPO with HMOs being less expensive than PPOs.

You might check with consumer reporting agencies and web sites. It will take a lot of research on your part. Ask lots and lots of questions of the different companies.

How do I go about getting a job for a Pharmacy Tech position?

We Answered:

I am a technician at a CVS in Ohio. I started as entry level (I did not have my high school diploma, GED, or technician certification) and they hired me right away. I started out as a Pharmacy Service Associate which meant that I was ringing customers up for their prescriptions, counting SOME medication, and pretty much nothing else. A few weeks later, CVS trained me and a person who certifies people as technicians came in and watched me work and gave me my certification. I had to go to a, maybe, 5 hour class or something where they mainly asked you questions regarding what a technicians duties are. Too many people think they have to go to school but it is a waste of time. As a technician now (and remind you... I had NO schooling what-so-ever), I am given the option to take the national test and my employer will pay for it. I believe it is around $90 or so, but it would be available to me at no cost if I wanted to persue this as a career. Having your national certification, you could get a job anywhere, hospitals, specialty pharmacies or just a regular retail pharmacy such as CVS. And ohhh yesss you will most CERTAINLY be dealing with customers connnstaannttlllllllyyy. ALWAYS, you will never go more than 10 minutes without having at least 1 customer coming in. There are puh-lenty of customers who drive me absolutely insane but you have to just learn to keep your cool. You will never go one single day without at least 2 people having some sort of problem with their insurance copay, or the price of an out of pocket or over the counter drug... people complain about everything and anything. At a hospital you MAY have less patients to deal with coming in for their medication, because some nurses actually go down to hospital pharmacies and get patients their prescriptions for them, so theres a good possibly you would have a significant amout of less patients. If patients in a hospital do come down to get their own medication, theres a good chance they will be picking up Promethazine (or the brand name is phenergan and is for nausea and vomiting). I fill at least 15 prescriptions for that at my store daily. Remember, people go to hospitals BECAUSE they are sick, so you will absolutely be dealing with sick patients there as well. Truthfully, I mean SURE its a good job and I feel good when I say "Im a pharmacy technician" but my job drives me absolutely mad. I am NOT taking my national test even though it IS offered to me for free because I am sooo not wanting to make this my career, no way. The pay isnt nearly good enough for all the BS you go through, not just with patients, but with insurance companies and doctors offices and prior authorizations and yadda yadda yadda.. I could go on for days. I mean its a simple enough job to do every day, it just takes practice... and a truck load of patience! :) I know I rambled a little.. and Im sorry but I hope I helped!!

P.S. I dont know what the official male to female ratios are, but I know at my store every single tech is female.. A few years back they had a male tech, but havent since then! I have never seen a male technician, But I have seen a lot of male pharmacists.

Discuss It!
