Pharmaceutical Education And Training

Leroy Said:

What kind of education/training does it take to sell pharmaceuticals?

We Answered:

Your current degree path is appropriate, although nurses with sales experience usually get hired easily. Best to know someone in the business and contact and meet local area sales managers. Sales experience is almost always a must. My co-workers sold phones, copiers, radio ads etc. Right now is not a good time to look for job in this bus. as Pfizer just laid off 50% of their sales force as well as Ortho and others, it's gonna get rough because many of these folks are experienced tenured reps. I'd go into nursing it's safer in this environment and growing and they need Spanish speaking nurses.

Wayne Said:

what does a pharmaceutical sales representative do?

We Answered:

Your job is to convince doctors and hospitals to use your product. You spend your days visiting doctor's offices and answering questions. You sometimes pass out samples so the doctor has some on hand.
You will travel with another "rep' for the first few weeks. Then you are on your own.
