Most work 40 hours/week. Schedule depends on whether you work in a small pharmacy, chain store, or hospital.Education is now at least 6 years, and is expensive.

Looking for a pharmacist to interview!! Can anyone help by answering these questions? We Answered:
Holy cow! That's a ton of questions. I'd suggest calling up some local pharmacies (or going there in person) and asking the pharmacists if any of them would be willing to sit down for an interview.Or, call up local pharmacy schools and ask the professors there.
I can answer a couple of the questions quickly:
1) Changes in education: there's really only been one major change. In the "old" days, all you needed was a bachelors degree. Now, you need a PharmD. What someone thinks of it depends on that individual person. Most don't care or will say it's a good thing (or didn't hurt).
2) Switch from prescription to over the counter: what switch? There's been no real switch. Yes, some previously prescription drugs are now over the counter (Claritin for example). Not a big deal. It's such a tiny drop in the bucket that it's not noticeable. Pharmacists are not worried about job security, if that's what you're going for. There are so many new drugs coming out, that the tiny amount that goes to OTC doesn't make a dent in the workload. If anything, it's nice b/c it's one less drug to deal with.

What education is needed in New York State for a pharmaceutical license? We Answered:
To practice as a pharmacist, you need a Doctor of Pharmacy degree which you attain at pharmacy school. Pharmacy school is 4 years and requires 2-3 years of pre-requisite/undergrad classes in order to apply. Most schools now-a-days prefer applicants to hold a bachelors degree. It's not required, as long as you take your pre-reqs, but the competition is increasing and most applicants finish undergrad before applying now. Annual salaries are typically around $100k (that $11/hour is definitely a technician wage, not a pharmacist's). However, the demand for pharmacists has dramatically decreased within that past few years and there will soon be a surplus, so that average salary is likely to decrease.Wallace Said:
I need help with a project about Pharmacist!?We Answered:
There are numerous sites on the Internet that provide that information. They include:The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook: http://www.bls.gov/OCO/ , specifically http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos079.htm
Career Planner: http://www.careerplanner.com/DOT-Job-Des…
You'll also want to look at the career outlook for the state in which you live. It should be similar to the one for North Carolina, the state in which I live: http://www.nccareeroutlook.com/ You'd want to search on "career outlook" and the name of your state.
By the way, there are related jobs that require less education and training that you might also want to research, such as pharmacy assistant and pharmacy technician.
