Angela Said:
How to explain my bad college situation without parents disowning me?We Answered:
Just tell them the truth. You were stressed out. To me it's nothing they can say, because you have done well so far. You didn't really mess up this year to me, just not as good as you once were. Just tell them you can make it up next semester if they give you another chance. I highly doubt if they take you out of the school. They were just trying to scare you.Keith Said:
How to explain my bad college situation to my parents and not lose their support? We Answered:
This is a tough one. As a parent (and one of my kids is a PharmD) I definitely see your parents' point of view. They have worked their butts off to get the money for you to go out of state to school, and now you have seriously let them down. You know yourself there is NO chance you are going to be admitted to pharm school with a D in o-chem. If you and they had a bargain that you needed to meet a certain grade standard to stay in school and you didnt do it, then you really can't complain.I think you also have to admit that your plan B is not very realistic. Your boyfriend is going to help you pay for school? That's pretty wildly unlikely. And you are going to take out loans? How many tens of thousands of dollars are we talking about here? You will be three years in debt before you even apply to pharm school, and even if you take your courses again and score A's there is no guarantee that you will ever be admitted to pharm school. You know how competitive it is. There are still PCATs and other tough courses ahead where you could mess up.
Looks to me like you are headed home. That's a very tough break, but your parents are not the ones who messed up. I hope that you will be able to take a little break and decide what comes next.
Good luck.
