Getting emancipated at 14 in West Virginia? We Answered:
First of all, you are too young. You would be put into the foster system if you were being abused by your parents. The only way to be emancipated is to be at least 16 and have evidence that you are able to support yourself, and you have to have a very, very strong reason for leaving home--physical abuse, sexual abuse, or very extreme verbal abuse. You can't "choose" a new parent or guardian. Ever. The system doesn't work that way, or half the teenagers I know would be picking new parents.
Most people who have been 14 (including me) have felt very similar to how you feel now about our parents. My mom used to beat the crap out of me, then my dad abused me sexually, and then they got divorced and my mom remarried a guy 12 years younger than her who was more older-brother material than father material. But the tough situations we go through build character in the long term.
Your choices are to put up with your life, run away and live on the streets, or go into foster care (which is not likely to be an improvement over your current living situation). I'm sorry, but that's life. We can't choose our family members. But you can choose to leave home when you're 18 and never, ever go back.

This is chapter 1 of Hope a story I'm writing. Its set in the future. want to read more?xsarahjho98x@yahoo.com?We Answered:
This is going to make a very interesting story but you do need to edit it. I was rather confused at the beginning especially the paragraph starting "I am Rowena Wittlay etc." When you spoke about Benjamin Clouse you switched from first to third person and that also was confusing especially as you switch back to the first person in the next paragraph. Towards the end where she was staring you write; "and other scolding in this manner" which does not sound grammatically correct. You also say "I waited for him to go back to bed" but there was no indication that he had left it only that he had sat up.There are one or two things like that so may I suggest you print it off and read it out loud or get someone to read it to you and that way you will hear the things that need changing.
Keep at it though because you style of writing is fine and the story does flow despite what I have said and I do want to know what happens to Benjamin and Rowena. Good luck with it.

That is really good! It was a little shaky in some parts but overall you sounded like a real author and I liked it! I give it a 9 out of 10! Hope this helps and good job on writing that!Dean Said:
Advice please.......?We Answered:
I think you should talk to him and nicely invite him back. And if he doesn't come back within a few days, you should file for child support payments.PS - Virginia is "up there" from Florida.
Jon: While you may be correct in a literal sense, north has long been associated with up, and south with down, in the English language. Use of the phrases "up north" and "down south" is extremely common throughout the US. I find it odd that you are apparently unaware of this.

What should I study?? Please help! I need to decide before next week (sorry it's really long)? We Answered:
If your passion is Foreign Language, then you should definitely study it as your major and even double major in say French and Spanish. A bachelor's degree in Foreign Language will definitely help you get a good job after you graduate. You can be a teacher, interpreter, translator or use your language skills for the military or government like the FBI or CIA. I would go for Foreign Language because it is always in demand to have bilingual or trilingual people.
