Erika Said:

If I finish my biochem major, will I get paid more as a pharmacist than if I just go into pharmacy school?

We Answered:

I think pharmacies only care if you have a pharmacy degree. I'd complete the bachelor's because you might not know how you'll like pharmacy school. I've heard that it gives you a better chance at being selected because it shows you can complete a program. Have you worked in a pharmacy? Why pharmacy? Be prepared to answer these questions and don't say something lame like I like to help people because the interviewers will get you on that. I am thinking about pharmacy too. But I'm not a science major like you so I'll have a harder time. I've also just thought about working rather than spending 2 more years on prereqs and then more school. Have any advice for me? Good luck.

You can't go to med school to be a pharmacist. Pharmacists go to pharmacy school.

College Requirements to become a pharmacist?

We Answered:

UIC does not look at your high school record for pharmacy school. They require a minimum of 2 years of college. In my class 40% of the class did not have a bachelors. For the lower classes, that percentage is increasing.

If you have the grades, top 15% of class and ACT greater than 28, consider the GPPA program.
