Pharmacy Administration Career

Fernando Said:

Help ! Pharmacist! or those studying to be one! Career in Pharmacy,?

We Answered:

1. It's not too late, especially if you hate what you're doing right now.

2. Your associates in business DOES help you. 3 out of 5 pharmacists work in retail (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) and they generally do a dual degree: PharmD and an MBA. Pre-req classes sometimes include economics/business classes. I think you could have an edge with your Associates in business.

3. You can start by getting certified as a pharmacy technician. It's SO easy to do: I'm doing it right now, and it's a 12 week class: we meet once a week for two hours to learn the things that a technician does. That way, you can get experience in a pharmacy and know whether you'd really want to go into Pharmacy before you invest more time and money into it. If you want to just teach yourself and take the exam without taking a $400 class, then go to https://www.ptcb.org//AM/Template.cfm?Se… to learn more. This exam is national, and is math-based. It's the more "difficult" one. There is also the ExCPT exam, (the "easier one") but that requires a class like the one I'm taking. More info here: http://www.nationaltechexam.org/

4. It's worth it if you really want it! Pharmacists make a lot of money (somewhere around $100k or more), whether they are working in retail or in a hospital (in fact, they make more at retail). If you don't want to go through all the schooling, you can still just be a pharmacy technician.

You can take the 2 years of pre-req classes anywhere you'd like. I think community college could even count.

What course suits me best: pharmacy or business administration?

We Answered:

Do you love chemistry and math equally, or chemistry more than math?
Is your desire to work with money smaller than your desire to work with chemicals?
Ask yourself these sort of questions.
You could go into something like a biochemist (I think thats what its called) and design drugs, they'll make a lot of money because of the large population of elderly people.

Nina Said:

Which one of this career on Health, is better and earn more money?

We Answered:

Most likely a Pharmacy Technician right out of school will earn more on average without previous work experience. As fair as Medical Administration it's very broad and it depends on what in medical admin you are doing and what credential's you have and how long you have been doing it, but a medical Administrator could make between 35k to 55k it all depends.
Pharmacy tech out of school 33k.

Give some advice about what career I should choose!!!?

We Answered:

Accounting is a great career but you need at the minimum to become a CPA or earn an MBA to make in the 6 figure income bracket. with an associates, depending on where you live $35,000 to about $50,000. With a bachelors degree about $40,000 to about $75,000. CPA $60,000 to in the high hundred thousands, even in the millions if you become the CEO of a company.
