Pharmacy Career In Canada

Joshua Said:

Pharmacy in Canada?

We Answered:

If you dont like science then you are out of luck, because yes you will need Biology, Chemistry and probably Maths.

The Life Sciences program provides students, through a multi-disciplinary approach, the opportunity for students to study basic medical sciences, i.e., Anatomy and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Community Health and Epidemiology, Microbiology and Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Toxicology and Physiology.

Interdisciplinary courses are offered in the third and fourth year following fundamental courses in biology, mathematics, physics and chemistry in the first year and specialized basic science discipline courses in the second and third year.

Pharmacy is not the same as Pharmacology

Warren Said:

Serious Career advice needed. I am at my 1st year of pharmacy at an Asian school and wish to transfer in any U?

We Answered:

Dear to be a doctor you need to do MBBS -Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or BAMS - Bachelor Degree of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.

B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy a 4-year programme) is an undergraduate academic degree in the field of pharmacy. The degree is the basic prerequisite for registration to practice as a pharmacist in many countries. It has been superseded by the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degrees.

Pharm.D post baccalaureate 2 years + 1- year internship/residency is for B pharmacy graduates.

Pharm.D (Doctor of pharmacy) 5-year + 1- year internship/residency is for 10+2 students.

You are doing B.Pharm. or Pharm.D.

One can not transfer to foreign universities for further study unless ones institute has transfer agreement with foreign university. You should finish your study here.

In US there is PharmD.
In Canada it is Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.

Pedro Said:

If you are an accredited pharmacist who received their training in Canada, can you work legally in the US?

We Answered:

If it is at least a 5 year degree, you can attempt to become a licensed pharmacist in the U.S. You'll have to take a number of exams. First, you'll have to take FPGEE. If you pass that, than you'll intern for a set number of hours. After that, you'll have to take the standard licensing exams: NAPLEX and MJPE.

Which Collage is better to study Pharmacy Technician in Canada, Vancouver?

We Answered:

Suprised that someone who cannot spell college would even consider attending!

(Collage is a French word meaning, art applied with paste)

Canadian student who's looking for a good college/university with pharmacy programs in canada?

We Answered:

University of Alberta
University of Saskatchewan
University of Montreal
University of British Columbia
University of Manitoba
All of these have very good pharmacy schools. If you change your mind about staying home, the University of Toronto has an excellent pharmacy program. Good luck!

Marshall Said:

Is pharmacy a respected, and prestigious career in Canada like it is here in the states?

We Answered:

Definitely.
In Canada, they make quite a bit more than the average salary (full time, starting salary of 70-90,000 CDN) with room to easily earn over 6 figures.

I know 3 pharmacists, and they are all well respected in the community and definitely considered "upper class".

It's actually strange, my gf is from Germany, and I guess in europe pharmacists aren't as well respected at all. I think over there, they are more pill counters, and here in NA, pharm's are expected to keep patients safe, and watch for doctor's mistakes. d

But, yes, just as prestigious as the US.

Discuss It!
