Wilma Said:

Should I go for M.B.A or masters in pharmacy after graduation on pharmacy?

We Answered:

Obviously the two previous posters have no clue about pharmacy and its relation to other degrees. I take it that you are currently doing your pharmacy degree, and want to know when you are done pharmacy school, if it is better to do an MBA or a Masters.

If you do an MBA, it would make you more suitable for a career in drug companies or companies that own community pharmacies (sales and management aspect of pharmacy). Its more of a thing to do if you want to work for a company like Walgreens, and oversee the business aspects of Pharmacy.

A Masters is more research oriented, so it will focus on lab work and pharmaceutical research. It would make you more geared towards working in drug companies or if you decided to pursue a PhD, a potential faculty position for a pharmacy school.

To get a better picture, I suggest talking to some faculy members at your current pharmacy school, who may have either of these degrees compeleted and see what they might have to say as well to be sure.

M.S. in biomedical engineering or Doctor in Pharmacy degree?

We Answered:

well if you wanna stay away from research, go pharm. biomedical engineering is where they develop the pharmaceuticals that a pharmacist will prescribe. also biomedical engineering will focus on the newer ways of treatments such as gene therapy and stuff. depends on where you want your emphasis. biomedical engineering will, however, usually pay more and a MS program will be shorter than the pharm program since you did not do a combined program for pharm. my friend did biomedical at madison. here's their program if you wanna look into what it is more http://www.engr.wisc.edu/bme/ also go look at this website....it tells you what the average salary is for any job you want.....http://www.bls.gov/OCO/ good luck in what you pick. either should be employable in NYC with a good placement rate since both are in high demand right now.

Hilda Said:

what other employment opportunities can a pharmacy tech find other than working in a pharmacy?

We Answered:

You should just become a full fledged pharmacist. I hear they make great money and are in great demand now that the baby boomers are getting older.

Crystal Said:

pre-med, what is the best pre-med course?

We Answered:

There is no best pre-med course. Major in whatever you please and supplement it with appropriate science courses.

Med school will teach you medical skills. They do not have time to teach you the basic reading/writing/thinking skills you should be focusing on in college.

Go for something that is broad-based and fits your skills and interests to keep your GPA high.
