Keith Said:
Is there a creative career within the health care field? We Answered:
I think that with the passing of ObamaCare, hospitals and the government are going to need to find some new ways to manage all that data. I wouldn't know what major or path to take in order to pursure such a job but it's a possibility. There's building and managing the infrastructure and then there's creating and managing the system (data). The medical sector should be pretty stable. Baby-boomers are aging, retiring, and will be hitting up the hospital beds in time. Although with the new healthcare plan, the salaries won't be as high as before. Still high relative to other careers.

Going in to the realworld can somebody help me?We Answered:
It is always good to have a plan, but you need to realize that the plan will not always go as you wish it to.You will not immediately get a management (or even assistant manager) position, and a lot of jobs do not allow 60 hour work weeks, so that is going to diminish your 'expected' income, according to your plan, drastically. In fact, when first hired many companies hire on a part time basis because it allows them to give the new employee a 'trial' and they are not required to provide benefits that they must give to full time employees.
There are going to be many other people wanting the same job position you want. You need to make yourself stand out. To do that, you need an education. You do not mention how old you are now, but I woudl get a job now so you have experience. It will increase your chances of getting into a managerial position quickly. Do not drop out of school, though-in fact, you should look into taking classes at your local community college.
There is a recession right now, and jobs are hard to come by because many companies are having to downsize. You should save up money, because once you get to Chicago, it might be several weeks or even months before you find a job. Be open to working in somewhere you find less-than-desirable in order to earn an income while you look for your dream job-it might be McDonald's.
Also, lets investigate your income. 1680 a month is NOT a lot, and after taxes it is going to be closer to 1200 a month. You will save by not having a vehicle (gas, maintenance, insurance, and of course the cost of the vehicle itself) but you will have to pay for your rent (which I know is 7-800 in smaller cities-Chicago is likely to be more), your public transportation, your food, clothes, medical expenses (you will not have insurance, I assume, because that will eat up your income and most companies do not provide it until an employee has been with them for a period of time), not to mention a landline, cell phone, cable/satellite, internet, electricity, water...
If you want to buy a house, you are going to have to have outstanding credit as well-so you need to make certain none of those bills get behind or it is going to effect your plans for a future home).
It IS cold up there, but that is not a reason not to go. If you want to move there, by all means do but you need to have a better plan than you have now-it is a good start, but it is not "real life". And, while you might not realize it now...a lot of young people spend their entire teen years wanting to run away from the one thing they long to return to when they are older. I understand crazy family (I have them), but they will also be your greatest allies in life unless they are abusive or something.
I do wish you the best...

One solid job offer, one maybe... need advice? We Answered:
1) Accept the CVS job.2) When you get hired by the producers, let them know that you need to give 2 weeks notice. Any decent employer will understand this, if they don't you might want to reconsider working there.
3) Give 2 weeks notice to CVS. Work the 2 weeks, being a good hard-working employee to the end.
Always be professional even when other people aren't.
Good Luck!

Do you have to have a degree to work in the photo center of Walmart? We Answered:
No. It doesn't take a college degree to work the photo print machine.Violet Said:
What kind of degree should I get?We Answered:
Volunteer at a hospital or independent beauty salon. Then, decide what you want to do. Hospitals have social workers and pharmacy techs. It already sounds like you don't want to be a teacher or psychologist. If you don't want to go to too much school but you want to be a psychologist, then consider being a priest. Volunteer in a church.Be aware that if you're in a rural or low-income area, your cosmetology customers will have fleas, lice, ticks, etc in their hair. If this doesn't bother you, then great! Welcome to cosmetology.
Be aware that pharmacy techs have to be very detail oriented. For example, if you read a doctor's prescriptions as 10 grams but it was 1.0 grams, then you could possibly kill a patient. Also, in retail pharmacy, the patients are very rude and abusive. You'd be irritable too if you were in pain, sick, and just waited 2 hours at the doctor's office. Now, you're at the pharmacy waiting for a prescription and your insurance won't pay for the drugs, which costs more than your paycheck. If you can do math problems in your head correctly every time while people are yelling at you and telling you to hurry up, then great! Welcome to pharmacy.
My point is, every job has positives and negatives. In order to find out what it's really like, you have to work that job and the best way to do that is to volunteer. I'm sure your local beauty salon will be more than happy to allow you to sweep the floor for free. I'm sure your local pharmacy will be more than happy to have a free cashier. Observe things while you are there. Then, decide what you're going to do. Good luck.

Is there a creative career within the health care field? We Answered:
If you're considering Business Admin, maybe you would consider a home based business offering affordable health plans to people who are in need ie: the under insured and uninsured. There are plenty of people who go without dental insurance and many go without insurance at all. It's something you can work around your schedule and get as creative as you want with it in different marketing efforts. I won't say it's easy, but it's fun and it's helping people in need at the same time. Email if you'd like to learn more : qhscheergoddess@yahoo.com
