Low. You're not competitive.

Consider starting a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Working as a Pharmacy Tech at CVS?

We Answered:

Being a pharmacy tech can be stressful. It can also be extremely pleasant. Working in a pharmacy mainly requires paying attention to detail. The new training program is very good, and also very thorough. I currently work for CVS as a Lead Pharmacy Tech in a very busy 24hr store. My advice to you is to have thick skin, don't let the customers upset you. Always remember that you have Lead Technicians as well as Pharmacists that you can turn to for any kind of help. Do let the kind comments put a smile on your face. Unfortunately the majority of people who come to the pharmacy don't always feel well if they're sick.. So being kind and courteous and helpful go along way towards making sure they don't get upset. And never be afraid to ask someone for help if you don't know how to do something. Also, any questions about anything to do with the prescriptions should be directed to the pharmacist. I recommend that you sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. :) Working in the pharmacy can be rewarding quite simply just by helping people. Keep your chin up, the smile on your face, and don't let the nasty people get under your skin. Remember that they aren't always feeling well, and that sometimes there are circumstances going on in their lives that we are unaware of. Please, don't take anything personally (unless its a good comment).. and just do the best that you can. Your colleagues should understand that you are just learning and will need some help from time to time. Also, the most important piece of information to pass on: Status is your very bestest friend in the whole pharmacy. If you have issues finding something check status first before you do anything else when at pickup. :) Good luck!!

Will passing the PTCB help my chances getting hired as a Pharmacy Technician?

We Answered:

It would definitely help you. However, I can say from personal experience that it would be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for anyone who has never worked in a pharmacy setting to pass the PTCE based soley on study guides and such.

If you think you can do it, go for it. However, I would be very careful about shelling out the $129 exam fee with any smidgen of doubt.

My advice is to keep your money and apply as a pharm tech anyway. You would not believe how easy it is to get a tech job with no experience and no formal education. . .again, I know from experience.
