Not all big cities are super expensive or difficult to get around in.

There is more competition yes, but the pay is also higher too usually.

Look at how much those jobs go for in a city that you like. Then look at how much rent goes for in a area that you wouldn't mind living in. On average you should never spend more than 60% of your income on rent or mortgage.

I live in Portland, Oregon and its awesome here. Big city with a small town feel. Weather is nice too, no snow.

I would only answer questions that are asked. If they ask you if you have any misdemeanors, then tell them. Otherwise don't put it down on the application.
If you make the interview process, again wait till it is asked. You could always point out that you did not mention them because they were misdemeanors, sort of like mentioning parking tickets.

Pay depends on the setting. I worked in Virgina and Maryland, and you can expect somewhere near $10/hour to start, but the top is near $16-18 for your area. Experience and specializing will increase pay.

I enjoyed being a pharmacy technician. I specialized in making IVs, that was pretty cool and paid at the higher end. I am now a pharmacist and specifically a pharmacy manager.
