Pharmacy Tech Schools

Charles Said:

Would you recommend skipping the Pharmacy Tech school and just studying for the PTCE?

We Answered:

If you are good in math, you'll have no problem passing the exam. Most can pass after several months of working in a pharmacy.

Jimmy Said:

What are the steps to becoming a pharmacist after pharmacy tech school.?

We Answered:

Going to pharm tech school does not put you at an advantage.
You'll have to complete all the pre-reqs.
You'll have to take the PCAT for most schools.
Apply and go to interviews for admissions.
You'll then find out if you are accepted or not.

Francisco Said:

how can i find out which pharmacy tech schools in illinois have the highest graduate employment rate?

We Answered:

Do NOT waste your money on college or any other special courses to be a pharmacy tech. What will get you a good salary is experience. It is very easy to get a job at a retail chain (Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc.) or supermarket pharmacy with just a HS diploma/GED and a clean criminal record. After you have 1-3 years of retail experience, start applying to hospitals in your area. That's where the real money is.

If you are serious about being a tech, look into becoming a CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician). The salary and employment opportunities will be better if you are certified. Go to the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board website for more info: http://www.ptcb.org
